Biography

Vanessa was born in Rome to Italian Gabriella, her mother and American John, her father. She lived in Rome until she was 8, and then moved to Washington D.C., her father's birthplace. She lived there until 2002, when she returned to Italy as a model. She was cast to appear in the 2005 Italian movie Natale a Miami, along with Christian de Sica, and consequently her popularity soared. In March 2006, she made her debut as a soubrette at the Festival di Sanremo. She currently lives between Rome and Washington D.C. She has been a model since she was 15, and has appeared in many publications throughout Italy and Germany.
Modeling careerShe worked for Donna sotto le stelle and Notte Mediterranea, both on TV. In 2004, she was chosen for a Korff's advertising campaign and for Alta Roma Alta Moda, the Rome fashion week.She lives in Rome and Washington, and appeared in commercials for Baby Star, Nara Camicie, and Gilli.Hessler planned to work in television, and in early 2006 she wanted to replace Alessia Marcuzzi to host Le Iene, but lost to Cristina Chiabotto.Hessler is the face of the DSL brand "Alice" (a service of Telecom Italia), and also appears in advertising for Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, L'Oréal, and Ferrero.In March 2006, she made her debut as a tv show host at the Festival di Sanremo with Claudia Cedro, Francesca Lancini, and Marta Cecchetto.
Acting career
Hessler appeared in the 2005 film Christmas in Miami (Italian: Natale a Miami), along with Christian de Sica, and consequently her popularity soared. She plays Greek princess, Irina, in the 2008 Asterix at the Olympic Games (French: Astérix aux Jeux Olympiques), a film that also stars Alain Delon and Gérard Depardieu. She also plays the leading female role in Per Una Notte d'Amore (English: For a Night of Love), which was filmed in Italy and released in 2008 as a 2 part TV special.
Vivien's Model Agency picked her up after seeing a small picture of her in an Australian magazine and at only sixteen, Ward was the youngest model to be listed by American Vogue as one of the nine "It Girls" in the modeling world. Ward is currently being considered a model of the moment by many fashion insiders and fans alike, having been described at times as having an out-of-this-world look. British photographer Nick Knight stated, "Gemma is one of the very, very few models who look as though they come from another dimension." She currently lives in New York and is close friends with fellow models Lily Donaldson, Caroline Winberg, Daria Werbowy, and Lily Cole. Casey Johnson, heiress to Johnson & Johnson fortune and Ward have been friends since Ward entered the modeling industry, they are both some of the highest paid young models in the industry Ward's baby doll-like look inspired a new craze in fashion. Fashion designer Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler told Teen Vogue in February 2006 that, "She looked like no one else at the time. She was this alien, and fashion is always looking for newness." Her look became the popular new look among models. It has inspired a new generation of baby doll-like models such as Vlada Roslyakova, Heather Marks, and Jessica Stam. Ward has long aspired to pursue acting and drama is a passion that she has held since she was a child. She has been cast in Australian director Elissa Down's upcoming film The Black Balloon also starring Toni Collette and Rhys Wakefield, as the girlfriend of a boy whose brother has autism. She was recently cast opposite Liv Tyler in the suspense thriller The Strangers as one of the three masked intruders. She also appeared in the music video for "Daughters" by John Mayer. In July 2007, earning at an estimated total of $3 million in the past 12 months, Forbes named her tenth in the list of the World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels after Daria Werbowy, Karolina Kurkova, Natalia Vodianova, Carolyn Murphy, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum, Kate Moss,and Gisele Bundchen.

Her other notable works include the well-famed Pirelli Calendar 2005 and the face of Italy’s big cell phone carrier Telecom Italia Mobile where she became known as the "Catherine Zeta-Jones of Italy." Lima is probably best known for her work with Victoria's Secret. She first graced the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 1999 and has appeared on subsequent shows ever since. Her most notable walk down the runway was in 2003, where she was the show opener. Lima had appeared on several television ads for the brand but her most memorable one, was appearing alongside the legendary rock musician Bob Dylan in 2003 Victoria's Secret Angel in Venice commercial which received both praise and criticism. She is currently a contract 'Angel' and spokesperson for the brand.
